The following descriptive statements are taken from the sales brochure for the Q-Fog ™ Cyclic Corrosion Tester published by Q-Lab Corporation. For more detailed information on how this instrument can be applied to your own testing program, please call or E-mail SolarSystems:
“Cyclic corrosion testing provides the best possible laboratory simulation of natural corrosion. Current research indicates that the test results are more similar to outdoors in resulting structure, morphology and relative corrosion rate. Prior to cyclic testing, conventional salt spray, a continuous salt spray at 35 Degrees Celcius, was the standard way to simulate corrosion in a lab. Because convention salt spray methods failed to mimic the natural wet / dry cycles of the outdoors, test results frequently provided poor correlation to the outdoors.”
For those customers who prefer the “tried and true” ASTM B 117, the Q-Fog ™ Cyclic Corrosion Tester can be programmed to perform this method also.
